The MNF is officially recognized by the IRS as having a 501(c) (3) status, therefore your donation works to support the Foundation’s mission as well as providing tax benefits for you and your heirs.​​​

Letting Your Legacy Work for You

Options include:

  • Cash gifts or bequests.

  • Gifts of appreciated assets such as bonds, shared mutual funds, or individual stocks.

  • Gifts of insurance policies.

  • Retained income gifts which include Charitable Remainder Annuity Trusts, Charitable Remainder Unitrusts, and Charitable Gift Annuities With all of these options, an experienced tax or estate attorney should be contacted to help ensure your legacy takes full advantage of its dual status as a gift and benefit.

The Florence Nightingale Society

Florence Nightingale was an English nurse who first came to prominence for her pioneering work during the Crimean War where she tended to wounded soldiers. She later laid the foundation for the modern nursing profession through the establishment of the world’s first secular nursing school at St. Thomas’ Hospital in London.

The Michigan Nurses Foundation is pleased to announce the established  the Florence Nightingale Society as a means of honoring those individuals who have generously and consistently  made donations to the Foundation.

​

  • To provide scholarship assistance for aspiring nurses and nurses pursuing additional nursing degrees.

  • To assist those nurses who are recovering from mental illness and addiction.

  • To assist nursing researchers, assess and improve nursing practice and outcomes.


​Membership in the Florence Nightingale Society is given to financial supporters of the Michigan Nurses Foundation upon reaching the following thresholds for donations during their lifetimes:

  • Leader: In recognition of at least $5,000 in cumulative donations to the Michigan Nurses Foundation.

  • Benefactor: In recognition of at least $2,500 in cumulative donations to the Michigan Nurses Foundation.

  • Member: In recognition of at least $1,000 in cumulative donations to the Michigan Nurses Foundation.
